rogueinladysclothing: (Self-Deprecating)

Amelia's not sure how to handle any kind of praise when her life is in such obvious disarray, but she manages a small smile for her friend as she takes the tissues. "Thanks," she says softly, pulling a tissue from the pack and dabbing at her eyes with it. "I'm not sure I deserve that, but I appreciate the thought behind it. I hope I can actually live up to what you think of me."

It's hard for her not to be so down on herself, especially when they're sitting in the middle of her incredibly unclean apartment. Once she gets a hold of herself again and can simply make things work here, then she can focus on making herself better again. Then she can try to be the kind of person her friends deserve.

After a few calming breaths and a few wipes at her eyes and nose, the wafting of the cool spring breeze through the window pulls Amelia from her thoughts. "I could use your help, if you're still willing to offer it," she says slowly. "I'm out of my element in my own place like this. My mother took care of our home on my world and at the inn the staff cleaned and cooked." A small, self-deprecating smile tugs at her lips. "I've been washing my clothes by hand for years, but I can't even keep up with that anymore with all the other things on my mind. Can I get your help sorting some of this housework out?"
