Alex nods. "It's one of many varieties and is called shantung. This kind of silk has less irregularities in the fabric as a whole, giving it a softer feel. It's a little lighter than some other silks, but if brides can handle small children stepping on gowns made of this, I think it should withstand a chao onslaught."

Amelia decides this is the perfect time to rejoin the conversation with another bolt of fabric under her arm. Its color matches that of the one Alex took from her, but it's got a delicate gold pattern along the edge of it. She takes a look at the fabric Verity's got her eye on and smiles. "It's quite lovely. I think it would make for a beautiful gown."

There's a bit of a pink hint to Alex's cheeks as he says that to Verity.
