Upon reaching her inbox, there's a long pause. And then, when the caller might think this is some prank or the inbox is improperly set up, a soft voice speaks:]

"Leave your message. We'll speak later."

[His voice on the line is crisp, tinged with an undertone of annoyance. There is no preamble greeting. He cuts straight to the heart of it.]

I'm assuming you did not sanction your subordinate to stalk me for the past several nights and openly threaten me over our most recent encounter.

This is my courtesy call to you in light of our previous business venture. He'll be walking home to you of his own recognizance this time to be dealt with as you see fit. Should he ever threaten me again, that will not be the case.

And should you and I have further business dealings, I don't want to so much as see his face. Whatever you need him for is in the background. Understood?

[She ends the call, then starts throwing knives into the cutting board she's pinned to the wall. Fuck.]
