Upon reaching her inbox, there's a long pause. And then, when the caller might think this is some prank or the inbox is improperly set up, a soft voice speaks:]

"Leave your message. We'll speak later."

I didn't realize people took pictures of one another like that? I've heard plenty of people sending one another pictures of themselves in varying states of undress, but not simply

Id encourage letting the person know since pictures here are released to others sometimes, but it is my understanding that kindly pictures are far more common than sexual ones in places with cameras

Things that are useful for work. Things I need reference of for later, in case I need help locating an item or am trying to find someone.

I don't have pictures of my friends or lovers just as they are every day. [Some for safety but mostly because she didn't know one could take those pictures.]

I used to be sane way. I only took pictures of foods or clothing I found interesting, buildings I wanted to inspect. But then I lost my first partner here without a single picture of him to my name.

I take pictures of my friends because I know Jon’s been here for four years and I can’t trust even my memory that I’ll retain every little detail I’d like to by that time for me.

Besides, selfishly, having pictures of those you love enjoying themselves in your presence is a kind reminder

You're right. I hadn't thought of it as such, but you're right.

Next time we see one another, I'd like to do something you enjoy, so I might capture that delight for myself. That selfishness is something I need to practice.
